Driving Lessons Leicester

Driving Lessons Leicestershires Driving Instructor, Dave from Lytes Driving School just had the enormous pleasure of having new tyres fitted. When you pass your practical driving test you join the ranks of us who have to pay for the repairs on our cars.
Tyre choice used to be a bit of a gamble.
By law, they now have efficiency ratings to help you with your choice, just like fridges and washing machines.
Previously they were round and black and we bought on price, thinking the more we pay the better the tyre (hopefully)
Now they are rated for Noise, Fuel efficiency and Wet grip.
Ratings are A,B,C and so on with A being the best. So now you can make an informed selection.
Remember 1.6mm minimum tread depth across the centre 3/4 of the tyre.
Don’t forge
t tyre pressures, They are hugely important for road holding and safety.

Driving in low Sun

Driving into low Sun can be blinding (that’s the bad blinding not the Del Boy good blinding). Here is some advice that may help you.
Keep your sunglasses in the car all the time, they are invaluable.
C
onsider carrying a baseball cap.
Use your sun visor, anticipate you are about to turn into the sun and put it down early.
Low sun on a dirty windscreen means more risk of being dazzled as the sun highlights all the dirt and smears on the screen, making visibility very poor.
Clean your windows – inside and out and mirrors frequently.
Keep your washer bottles topped up with a good quality screenwash.
Change your windscreen wipers as soon as they show any sign of wear. They don’t last as long as you may think.
If the sun is behind you, it’s in the eyes of drivers coming towards you and they might not see you.
NEVER look directly at the sun.
If you can’t see well, slow down.
Keep an eye on the vehicle behind, in case you’re not seen against the low sun.
Low sun behind can dazzle you through your mirrors so be ready to dip the mirror and check over your shoulder for vehicles in your blind spot
If you see shadows ahead across your path, make sure you can see into them and slow down before you reach them.
Use dipped headlights.
Always consider other road users view and plan that they may not see you.
Keep glass cleaner and cloth in the car so you can clean the windows if required.

Congratulations to Mohammed Bardouez who passed his practical driving test at his local driving test centre at the very first attempt..
Mohammed has been a superb pupil during his driving lessons, and we are delighted that he has passed his test.
Now he can go wherever he likes, whenever he likes.
Mohamed has been relying on a friend to give him a lift to and from work. Now he can return the favour, and he does not have to take his children on the bus any more.
He has already bought himself a car. It might not be the Ferrari he would prefer, but it will do him nicely.
All the best for the future from your driving instructor Dave Howe and Lytes Driving School.

Lytes Driving School says congratulations to Carl Johnson who passed his Practical Driving Test at the first attempt. Carl has been the model pupil, has worked really hard and thoroughly deserves his full driving licence. Now he has to leave home 10 minutes before starting work rather than leaving a hour to catch the bus. We hope this makes the huge difference to your life that you deserve. Well done Carl and best wishes for the future from your Driving Instructor Dave and Lytes Driving School.

Tax Disc to be Abolished!!

The tax disc is to be abolished from October 1st 2014.
Good news eh?
Well not quite, you still have to pay the tax but the DVLA will no longer be issuing a tax disc to be displayed.
The details will be stored electronically just like insurance.
With so many Police cars equipped with NPR (number plate recognition) equipment there is no longer a need for the paper disc to be displayed.
The good news is that there will be an option to pay by direct debit either annually, bi-annually or monthly. So if you have a high emission car you can spread the cost.
There will be a 5% charge to pay monthly though.
