“Calm, controlled and great to listen to”

“I picked Lytes Driving School because they were the best looking online. I did find I had to work hard but my driving instructor, dave, was calm, controlled, great to listen to and a tremendous instructor. I really enjoyed learning to drive and have recommended Lytes Driving School to a friend.

Thank you, I have learnt so much and have thoroughly enjoyed it.”

“I picked Lytes Driving School for my driving lessons because Dave was able to fit me in around my work time.Dave put me at ease from the start. He was cool as a cucumber with a gentle voice, so I instantly felt calm:meaning I could do what I needed to do feeling focused and alert.
I would definitely recommend Dave from Lytes Driving School as a driving instructor because he is a great teacher with lovely qualities, combined with his skill and gentle coaching we made a dram team!
I hope he enjoys the summer as I certainly will. My only regret is not finding him sooner.

Your Driving Test

When you go for your driving test you should be well prepared and have had lots of practice. You will have encountered meeting other traffic on many occasions during your driving lessons and dealt with them safely.

However, on driving test it can be easy to do something that you would not normally do. Many candidates have failed their driving test because they continued into a meeting situation where they should have waited.

When you encounter a meeting situation and think “I think it’s ok to keep going” it is time to rethink. It may well be ok to continue but a moments thought could well save your test. Practice this thought process with your driving instructor.

A fantastic drive from Lori Hellyer from Melton Mowbray gets her a well deserved full driving licence. Just a small correction whilst parking was the only mark on Lori’s test which was an excellent drive. Lori has always shown great skill and focus during her driving lessons and we are so pleased she has passed.
Lori has her own car (a Suzuki Swift) waiting for her at home, in fact it’s been calling out to her since her Dad bought it for her recently (lucky thing). Now Lori can drive to work tomorrow and not have to rely on the train.

Well done Lori from your driving instructor, Dave Howe and Lytes Driving School.

INDEPENDENT DRIVING ON DRIVING TEST

Independent Driving on Driving Test

Independent Driving on Driving Test.

The driving test includes 20 minutes of independent driving. Most candidates (4 out of 5) will follow a sat nav, whilst the remainder will follow road signs and/or directions from the examiner. If the examiner does not place a sat nav in the car then you know you are going to follow signs/directions. This is to allow you to plan your journey and position the car appropriately in good time. Independent driving should not cause you too much concern if you have got used to using a sat nav and following directions during your driving lessons prior to your test, your driving instructor will help you with this.

Don’t worry if you go the wrong way SAFELY, it’s not a problem, the examiner will find a way round and no fault will have been been committed. If you are unsure of directions you can ask the examiner. They will clarify directions but not answer questions on how to deal with traffic situations (that’s your job!).

The independent driving could start at any point during the test including the very beginning, the examiner will ask you to stop first to explain to you that the independent driving is about to start and will tell you when it’s over. The examiner will operate the Sat Nav, you do not have to even touch it. If you can’t see the screen or hear directions ask the examiner to adjust it.

Get plenty of practice and you should not find it a problem.
